Noor

Known as Soole-Deh until a few years ago, Noor is located in west of Mazandaran. It includes five cities of Noor, Baladeh, Royan, Chamestan and Izad-Shahr. The dominant agricultural product in the region is rice.

 

Public Forest of Noor

Covering an area of 400 hectares, the public forest of Noor is located 5km off Noor-Mahmood Abad road. Various trees grow in this area. Owing to its favorable environmental conditions and access to the sea, it is one of the special nature attractions. There are equipped and beautiful restaurants, many wooden pergolas, playing parks, mosque, restrooms and playgroundsin this public forest, so it is one of the most important tourist centers in Iran.

 

Ab-Pari Waterfall

Having a 60 degree steep, this beautiful waterfall is located in Royan city. Due to its majestic views and breathtakingly beautiful nature, it is one of the most important tourist attractions of the area. 

 

Lavij Mineral Water Spring

Located 25Km south of Chamestan, in Lavij village, middle of the forest valleys of Alborz mountain range, the mineral warm water spring of Lavij is full of sulfur substance and is therefore good for the treatment of various skin and bone diseases as well as for rheumatism and arthritis.

 

Public Forest of Kashpal

The public forest of Kashpal is located at the beginning of Lavij tar road, between Chamestan and Amol. Due to its favorable environmental conditions, access to the Lavij river and springs, accommodation centers and playing park, it isone of the most important tourist attractions in the area.

 

The Stone Elephant

After passing through the mineral warm water spring of Lavij villageand walking at least 10 minutes in the center of village, there is a big piece of stone which has been formed like an elephant due to the natural erosion and is very interesting for the visitors.

House of Nima Yooshij

Located in Baladeh city, Yoosh village, it retains many elements re calling Qajar architecture. The structure features a quadrilateral courtyard surrounded by a hall and chambers, stucco carving decoration and tessellated sashed windows. According to the poetʼs will, he was buried in his homeland. This house was restored once in 1991 and again in 1996.

 

Ancient City of Natel in Noor

The remains of the ancient city of Natel are located in a village by the same name,between the old cities of Kojoor and Amol, 5Km south of Noor, in the middle of a lush forest.

 

Qalʻeh Poolad (Castle)

Located north of Baladeh city, a huge castle crowns a mountain. Made of rough stones, mud-bricks, lime, plaster and mortar, it features several towers and a tall rampart. On the evidence obtained so far, it was used in the early centuries of the Islamic period.

 

Raw Brick Bridge of Noor

Famous as Khesht-Pol (Raw Brick Bridge), it was built upon the order of Mirza Aqa Khan-e Noori. Housing herring-bone-shaped arches, nowadays only the middle part of the bridge remains. Its construction dates back to the Qajar period.

 

Tomb Tower of Aqa-Shahbaloo Zahed

Located 3Km east of Chamestan district, in Noor, it dates back to 840 AH. Shahbaloo Zahed, one of the theosophists (early of 7th century AH), is buried in this monument. It is an octagonal construction crowned by an octagonal conical twin-shelled dome. A band of blind arches, an inscription and blue tiles adorn the building. The monumentʼs interior is decorated with the inscriptions bear verses from the Holy Qorʼan and vegetal patterns.

 

Tomb Tower of Jamshid Kia Soltan

Located within the city of Royan, it is an octagonal construction crowned by an octagonal conical dom. A band of moqarnas (stalactite decoration) and blind arches adorn the building. This tower dates back to 851 AH.

 

Soltan Tower

Regarded as the second highest building in Noor, Soltan tower is located within the city of Baladeh. Made of fired bricks, it has a conical dome. A band of inscription in kufic script decorate the tower. The inscription of its carved wooden case bears the date of construction (1102 AH) and gives the name of its commissioner (Sheikh Ahmad Noori).
