Amol is located at the center of Mazandaran province, 70Km of west of Sari, 18Km south of the Caspian Sea and 6Km of the Alborz mountain range. It is limited northward by Mahmood Abad, eastward by Babol, westward by Noor and southward by Tehran. The city is located at 52° 21' eastern longitude and 26° 25' northern latitude. Amol has an altitude of 76 meters above the Caspian Sea level and includes tow districts of Central and Larijan, 8 hamlets and the cities of Daboo-Dasht and Rineh.

Natural Attractions
Damavand Peak
The global well-known mountain of Damavand is one of the most important natural attractions of Iran. Located 75Km southwest of Amol, 90Km northeast of Tehran, in Larijan district, it is a part of the Alborz mountain range. With a height of 5671 meters, Damavand is the second conical peak in the world. At the height of 4400 meters, there is a waterfall that freezes during the year.
Lar Dam
Located 80Km northeast of Tehran, 100Km of Amol, in the Larijan district, the Lar embankment dam is the largest one in the Middle East. It is constructed on Haraz river.
Ab-e Ask Mineral Warm Water Springs
Ab-e Ask village is located 8Km of Amol-Tehran road. There are numerous mineral warm water springs full of sulfur substance in this village. Many tourists visit the area, to enjoy its pleasant weather and mineral water especially in summers.
Lavij Mineral Warm Water Spring
Located on the Amol-Tehran road, in Gazanakcity, Larijacity, the mineral warm water spring of Larijan with a heat of approximately 65 degrees centigrade are full of sulfur substance and are therefore good for the treatment of various skin and bone diseases as well as for rheumatism and arthritis.
EstrabkooMineral Warm Water Spring
This mineral warm water spring is locatedon the way between Larijan district and Rooshaq village, near Bayjan village, in Qelaben district. Its source is a mountain and flows to Haraz river.
Gero Kolerd Mineral Water Spring
Flowing from rocks to the earth's surface, it is good for the treatment of various diseases.
Garma-Rood River
One of the rivers flowing in this city isGarma-Rood, whose source is the northern Alborz mountain range. It is 50 kilometers long. There are some mineral water springs around it, such as Garoo and Lalehzar which are full of mineral substances and are therefore good for the treatment of various skin and bone diseases as well as for rheumatism and arthritis.
Alimestan Village
The village promises one of the most beautiful sceneries to the tourists and nature lovers in spring time. The forest there is a place for growing cardamine (known as alima in local language) which grows in the month of Ordibehest (April/May). It is said that the name Alimestan forest comes from the name of the plant.
Public Forest of Haloomsar
Regarded as one of the best tourism areas of Iran in 2011, the public forest of Haloomsar has equipped accommodation and recreational centers, track cycling and skating.
Baliran
Baliran is one of the special tourist sites which have attracted the attention of provincial officials due to having the tourist potential and water treatment of Garma-Rood River. Therefore, with regard to the welcome that has been accorded by different tourist groups this region is considered a virgin area with spring, river and beautiful green space and apart from its nature its historical background can also be referred to as many Iron Age spearheads have been discovered in this region.
Sahoon Lake
Located on the southwestern edge of the Damavand peak, near Nava village, Sahoon lakehas an altitude of more than 3000 meters above the sea level.The lake had a span of 1000 hectares in the past and up to the past half a century it was full of water but gradually due to human interventions its water volume was diminished and currently it has been turned into a marshland.
Deryook Plain and Waterfall
The extensive and beautiful plain, as well as an attractive waterfall of this area create wonderful viewsfor tourists and mountaineers.
Lakes of Tar and Havir
These lakes are located near Lasem village of Amol. They areat a distance of about 500 meters of each other.
Kamarbon Cave
This is a cave the entrance holes of which have been cut by hands. It is situated beside seven waterfalls in Lasem Kenar region and is located underground and is attributed to the mythological period.
Shahan-Dasht Waterfall
Located 65Km of Amol, in the Haraz road, on the mountains overlooking a beautiful village by the same name, Shahan-Dasht waterfall is about 50 meters high. Regarded as one of the most important waterfalls in Mazandaran, it creates wonderful views.
Yakhi Waterfall
Located at the height of 5100m of Damavand peak, Yakhi waterfall is 7-15 meters high. It is one of the strangest waterfalls in the world. Except in the summer time when for a short period of time a narrow stream of water is flowing from its side, for the rest of the year the waterfall is frozen. This waterfall is the highest in the Middle East region in terms of its height from the sea level.
