Neka

It is a town in Mazandaran Province in northern Iran. The town is the center of the city of Neka.

Neka is located on the main Sari-Behshahr Road. A path from Neka to the south goes up to the mountains. At the beginning of the route there is a small village called Qormarez the mineral water spring of which (as believed by the inhabitants) is a healer. At the end of the route and on the peak of the mountain, there is a small and beautiful lake called Estakhr-Posht (Estalkh-Posht) in the vicinity of a village with the same name. Today Neka is known for its thermal power plant, Amirabad Free Port, Sadra Shipbuilding Factory and Zagh-Marz beautiful wetlands.

Natural Attractions

Morvarid Seaside

Having a length of some 5 kilometers, the seaside of Neka by the name of Morvarid isone of the nature attractions. There are equipped guesthouses, many wooden pergolas, coffee shop,playing park, restroom; and motor and pedaling boatsin this area.

 

River and Forest of Koohsar-Kandeh 

 

Public Forest and Mineral Water Spring of Qormarez

The public forest is located 10Km of Neka, between the villages of Zarandin-e Oliya and Darvishandar. There is a mineral water spring by the same name which is good for the treatment of kidney diseases and attracts many visitors.

 

Chalmardi Forest

It is located in a village by the same name. Tobacco is cultivated in Chalmardi and its nearby villages.

 

Kharbasoot Spring

It is located in the forest area of Chalmardi and Kordab, 1Km of Kordab to Hezar-Jarib road.

 

Mariv Spring

Located across the road from the villages Laee to Band-e Ben, it is a famous spring whose source is the mountain of Limoondeh village.

 

Estakhr Posht Lake and Village

Estakhr Posht village is located on the road from Neka to Hezar-Jarib district, near Band-e Ben village. There is a beautiful lake that enjoye stupendous naturalsight. Its waterfall is one of the most important tourist attractins of the area. 

 

Kalengah and Gardareh

By taking about 10 km from the dense Emamzadeh Yahya forests, the Kalengah pasture with its shrub covering will emerge. The beautiful forest and pasture shrubs as well as the famous “Qolqol Cheshma” (meaning the boiling and erupting spring) have created the cool summer resort of Kalengah which would give a new life to any tourist who visits the area in the summer time. The beautiful mountains, sometimes green and sometimes naked, in front of the recreational and forest area of “Gardareh” which is located on the northern side of Kalengah (the entrance to the Mares Village from the gravel road), will attract many travelers.

 

Chalme-Kooh and Nile-Kooh Mountains

With a height of 2500 meters, Chalme-Kooh mountain is located in a steppe areaon the southern edge ofHezar-Jarib district, in Estakhr Posht hamlet. Due to its majestic views and beautiful nature, it is one of the most important natural attractions of Mazandaran. Nile-Kooh peak with a height of 2706 metersis a part of this mountain.

Emamzadeh Panj-Tan Mausoleum

The mausoleum is one of the most well-known attractions of Eram village. Located in Hezar-Jarib district, in Neka city, Eram is a historical village which its name has appeared in historic sources several times.

 

Narenj Bagh Hill

Dating back to the prehistoric period, the historical hill of Narenj Bagh is located on the northern edge of Neka city. Owing to its suitable facilities and stupendous natural sights, it is one of the tourist attractions of the province.

 

Emamzadeh ‘Abbdollah Mausoleum

Located in Atrab village, in Neka, the mausoleum is listed as a national monument. Dating back to the 9thcentury AH, it is a brick construction. Numerous tourists and pilgrims travel there each year. Surrounded by old treesand because of its architecture, Emamzadeh ‘Abbdollah mausoleum is one of the attractions of the area.

 

Ancient Cave of Komishan

Dating back to the Mesolithic period (Middle Stone Age), it is located on the southern edge of Khaneh-Sar and Komishan villages, atop hills of Neka-Behshahr road. Archaeological surveys indicate that this cave was one of the most ancient residences of human beings in this area (about 7000 to 12000 years ago).Ancient cave of Komishan is one of the most important historical and natural attractions of Mazandaran.

 

Gorgetaj Village

The villages of Gorgetaj and Ramedankheil are the most beautiful attractions of the area. Historical house of Ramedani is located in this village. Having especial architectural features, it dates back to the Qajar period. In addition, the beautiful springs of these villages attract many visitors.

 

Emamzadeh Qassem

Located near Charmi village (famous as Chahar-Soo), the mausoleum of Emamzadeh Qassemdates back to the Qajar period. Listed as a national monument by cultural heritage, handicrafts and tourism organization of Iran, it is one of the most important religious, natural and tourist centers of the province.

 

Emamzadeh Yahya

The mausoleum ofEmamzadeh Yahya is located in Sika village, in Hezar-Jarib district, on Babr-Cheshmeh mountains. There are equipped and beautiful cottages and restrooms in this forest area, so it is one of the most important tourist attractions in Mazandaran.

Miyandorood

Miyandorood is one of the cities of Mazandaran province, its center is Soorak. It is limited westward by Sari and eastward by Neka. This city includes two districts, the first one is Central with the center of Soorak and three hamlets by the name of Miyandorood-e Bozor, the eastern and wetern Koohdast; and the second one is Goharbaran district with the center of Tabaqdeh village and two hamlets, the northern and southern Goharbaran.

Natural Attractions

Dasht-e Naz Wildlife Preserved Area

Covering an area of 55 hectars, the beautiful wildlife preserved area of Dasht-e Naz is located 35Km northeast of Miyandorood. Due to its virgin living areas of plants, birds such as pheasant and pigeon, as well as animals such as Persian fallow deer, the natural ecosystems and the genetics variations, this area is considered as one of the most natural tourist attraction in Iran.

 

Semeskandeh Wildlife Preserved Area

Located 5Km southeast of Miyandorood city, Semeskandeh wildlife preserved area covers an area of 1000 hectares. Having plain and forest species of plants, it is the living areaof Persian fallow deer.
