ARRIVAL
You will enter Iran with a one-month visa. We will assist you to convert your entrance visa to a student visa. When you receive your visa and purchase your ticket to Iran, inform us of your arrival date at least 10 days in advance by forwarding a copy of your ticket to us in order for the university to organize your pick up service. Please inform us of any changes concerning your arrival. The next business day after you arrive, you should refer to the Office of Admissions to complete your registration. Our staff and advisors at the Office of Admissions are available to assist you with your needs.
You will need to deposit the entire first-year tuition fee at the time of registration at MAZUMS for the registration to be completed. Therefore, please make necessary arrangements for this matter. All registration affairs will be undertaken and completed at the Office of Vice-Chancellor for Global Strategies and International Affairs.
You will receive a temporary student ID card after your registration is complete.
Later on, you will be accompanied by the university’s Visa Specialist to the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to process your one-year student visa. After your student Visa has been processed, you will be given your main student ID card.
The official language in Iran is Persian. In order to ease the transition of our international students into their new environment, MAZUMS, with the collaboration of University of Babolsar city, offers Persian language classes to international students.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
Required documents for registration are:
- Original Passport + 3 photocopies of main pages + 2 photocopies of student’s visa page;
- 10 photos (3cm*4cm) with white background;
- Two previous degree(s) in original + 2 photocopies of the degree(s) + Official Transcript(s);
- English Language Proficiency Certificate;
- Tuition Fee
All educational documents need to be approved (signed and verified) by:
- The Institution which has issued the degree;
- The Ministry/Department of Education;
- The Ministry/Department of Foreign Affairs.
All documents need to be original, and copies should be proved same as original by the Head of the Certification Issuance Authority.
INSURANCE AND BANK ACCOUNT
Students will be provided with health and sports insurance. Moreover, residents who work in hospitals will also be covered by professional liability insurance. Moreover, students will be assisted to open a bank account in Iran after completing their registration.
VISA PROCESS
You will enter Iran with a one-month student visa. After visiting your school and familiarizing yourself with your schedule and surroundings, we will accompany you to the Iranian Ministry of Health and Medical Education in order to process your one-year student visa.
ACCOMMODATION
Student housing provides wireless Internet service for residents. Our housing units are double- or triple bedroom apartments. Each bedroom is equipped with two single beds.
The apartments are furnished with table and chairs as well as a TV set.
Each unit has an independent shared kitchen which is furnished with basic appliances, refrigerator, microwave oven, washing machine, an iron, and an ironing board.
LANGUAGE AND RELIGION
The Iranian people are a multiple ethnic linguistic group. The official language in Iran is Persian (Farsi), though there are a number of other languages and dialects that are used in different regions of the country. With regard to religion, currently more than 90 percent of the total population is Muslim.

FOOD AND DINING
Most shops in Iran sell a range of bread, dairy products, canned foods and other groceries. However, if you have special needs, it is recommended to think ahead and come prepared. Bakeries around MAZUMS specialize in different types of Iranian flat bread, baguettes, sandwich bread or toast. Various types of meat can be easily found around the city, especially beef and fish. Rice is also found and is the main source of carbohydrates in Iran. Restaurants, cafes, fast food and sandwich shops are also available all around the Sari city.
DRESS CODE
The word hijab refers to:
- The head covering traditionally worn by Muslim women;
- Styles of dress in general.
Following Islamic rules including Hijab or the Islamic dress code is necessary while in Iran.
- The body should be covered with loose clothes. Arms should not be bare;
- Legs and feet should be covered down to ankles;
- For women, hair should be covered. Scarf is the most common covering for the head.
MONEY EXCHANGE
You are able to exchange money inside Iran. It is recommended to exchange some money at an official organization before you enter Tehran. Generally, shops and services do not accept foreign currency. Certain bank branches and numerous money exchange offices can be found around the city that can easily change most world currencies to the Iranian Rial.
